One vertical file for every platform
Shorts, Reels and TikTok all use the 9:16 shape. Clipumo exports a 1080 × 1920 MP4 that you can upload to any of them. Check each platform's current length limit before posting; most short clips that do well are under a minute anyway.
From long video to Short
- 1Open your video. Drag it onto the editor or choose it from your computer. It's read straight from your disk.
- 2Pick the moment. Drag the in and out handles on the timeline, or play the video and press “Set to playhead”.
- 3Choose 9:16. The output is 1080 × 1920, the standard vertical HD size.
- 4Frame the subject. Drag the vertical frame onto the person or action, and zoom in if they're small in the shot.
- 5Add captions, or skip. Import an SRT/VTT file, type them yourself, or leave them off.
- 6Preview and export. Watch the exact result, then download the MP4.
Choosing a moment that works on its own
- It makes sense without the rest of the video.
- The interesting part starts in the first second or two. Trim off the lead-in.
- It's about one idea, and it ends on a strong line.
- The speaker is big in the frame. Zoom in on talking heads.
Questions
Do I need a different version for each platform?
Usually not. The same 9:16 1080 × 1920 MP4 works for Shorts, Reels and TikTok. For a square feed post, choose 1:1 instead.
Can I make several Shorts from one video?
Yes. After exporting, go back to the Clip step and select the next moment. Your format and crop stay in place, and captions imported from a subtitle file re-time automatically to the new clip.
Is there a watermark?
No. Clipumo never adds a watermark or logo.
